We left shortly after, wanted to take the granddaughter to see the animals but it didn't look like there was any, they used to have horses there for kids to ride, didn't see that either.Apple Jack Orchards is an orchard and bakery located just outside of Delano, MN. So a little later the same guy sees us picking apples and he stops again and yells " DIDNT I TELL YOU GUYS TO ONLY PICK APPLES WITH A RIBBON ON THE TREE!" So i say, there is a ribbon on the tree! And he says, "WHERE!" And then i showed him, he mumbled something and drove off. So now we are heading out to pick apples, and we decided to walk with a wagon for our granddaughter to be pulled in, soon after we get up the hill to start picking this guy driving a tractor pulling people on a wagon stops and tells me to only pick apples from trees with a ribbon on it, i said ok, but we already knew this. Still charge $20 for a bag to pick your own but the bag is about half the size it used to be. We have been going here for years and were excited to bring new friends or family that have never been here before, what a disappointment, first off the inside of the main building has totally changed, before there was so much stuff to look at, tables and tables of pies, caramel apples, all kinds of stuff to buy, music, 3 or 4 people sampling different apples and explaining things, which in past years they would give you a brochure about the apples and different things, this time we found one person sampling and I'm not sure if they were running low on apples to sample but we got a piece about the size of a raisin, we found that rather hilarious! also in past year outside there was a bar and a guy grilling, with people everywhere, that wasn't even open. Where do i start, the one good thing is there was no charge for parking. It’s now blossomed into one of Minnesota’s top apple orchards.

This Delano-based apple orchard humbly started out of a railroad cart on the side of the road in 1983. They’re not allowed anymore so people were just leaving their dogs barking in their cars. Apple Jack Orchards is a well-known staple in the northwest corner of the Twin Cities. Next year we will try a different apple orchard or fall activity. We overheard many upset families saying the same thing. There were a lot of young staff members who were completely overwhelmed and unknowledgeable. To get there take I-87 to Exit 36 and follow Route 22 south for about 4 miles. When it was our turn we were told they had no donuts. Applejacks Orchard and Country Gift Shop is located at 751 Brand Hollow Road in Peru, 51. More than likely you’ll be standing and eating. We waited in line for more than a 1/2 hour in a jam packed building with a few tables for seating. Before we left, we decided to grab some apple donuts.

The tractor ride again had a long line so we skipped it and we didn’t pay the extra money to get an apple bag (which should’ve been included with admission in my opinion) They did have mining and apple shooters but that was extra money as well. The new playground is geared toward younger children and the “farm” has a couple of goats and pigs. The corn pit was a big hit for the kids otherwise nothing else enticed them. Overpriced? Yes, but we sucked it up and paid. When we asked about only having a card a women told us to wait and she’ll find out. Once we were almost to the cashier booth, they turned our line into cash only. Even if you had a pass or online tickets you still had to wait an hour in line. We waited in line for an hour just to get in. My family and I have been going to this orchard for many years (about a 45 min drive).
